Lansing’s 2011 Jazz Festival

August 1st, 2011 by insideout

The Lansing JazzFest is seventeen this year, and offering more free music and fun events than ever before. This is a wonderful activity for guests of our Lansing Bed and Breakfast.

Check out the 2011 JazzFest in Old Town Lansing this weekend, August 5 and 6.

Look forward to non-stop music during festival hours thanks to the several venues throughout Old Town. Even more exciting, each artist will play an original composition at Lansing’s JazzFest. Be the first to hear some truly wonderful pieces.

JazzFest 2011 musicians include the incomparable Nicole Mitchell’s Ice Crystal Quartet, Los Gatos, and Elden Kelly & the Global Roots Jazz Collective. In addition, there will be a variety of special events such as the Cory Allen Guitar Clinic, the Jeff Shoup Drum Clinic, and the Happendance’s Community Dance Project.

JazzFest runs Friday, August 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and Saturday August 6 from 1 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in Old Town Lansing. Since it’s an outdoor festival, you may listen to great jazz while admiring the lovely architecture and shops of Old Town. A variety of vendors will sell food, crafts, art, clothing, and more during festival hours.  Eat at JazzFest, or bring your appetite back to our Lansing Fine Dining Restaurant or pub.

Additional festival information is available at JazzFest.

Lansing JazzFest

August 3rd, 2010 by insideout

It’s almost time for the 16th Annual JazzFest in Lansing’s Old Town. Each year, fantastic artists from the region and nation perform at this free community event, which is close to our Michigan bed and breakfast.

The 2010 festival begins at 4pm Friday August 6th and and noon on Saturday, August 7th. Both days it runs until midnight, a schedule that allows many musicians to take the stage and plenty of time for visitors to browse the art galleries and shops of Lansing’s pretty Old Town.

Derrick Gardner and the Jazz Prophets to perform at JazzFest in Lansing.

Unique to the Lansing JazzFest is the fact that each artist is asked to play one original composition during their performance. Look forward to hearing Etienne Charles and Folklore – a wonderful blend of calypso, steel pan, and African Shango drumming. Stanley Jordan will bring his innovative approach to playing guitar to the stage; and Mt. Zion Soundz of Praize will stir your soul with their gospel singing. To see a complete list of the JazzFest performers, please see the JazzFest website.

Before and after attending JazzFest, enjoy luxurious accommodations at our Lansing inn. Lunch outside on our terrace Friday and Saturday afternoons so you’ll have plenty of energy to focus on the music once you arrive at the festival. And you will love our comfortable beds after hours on your feet.
