July 10th, 2022 by Corey A. Edwards
Music lovers visiting the Lansing area this summer won’t want to miss Michigan JazzFest (August 4-6) or Michigan Bluesfest (September 15-17) if they can help it. Both festivals draw great bands and artists, along with thousands of fans, to Lansing’s Old Town every year. Best of all, both are less than a half hour’s drive from The English Inn Restaurant & Pub!
One of the best things about life here on the Medovue Estate in Eaton Rapids, MI is that it’s quiet, calm, and just a short drive away from all the lights and excitement of Lansing. People visit us as a respite to the noise and stress of the modern world.
A stay in one of our rooms, dinner at our restaurant, a drink in our pub, or even just a simple walk on the grounds will quickly sooth any wrinkles in your brow and lift the weight of the world from your shoulders.
Here on the Medovue Estate, you’re surrounded by soothing, old world and natural beauty with Michigan’s Capitol City just minutes away. Shop, site-see, attend events like Michigan JazzFest 2022, and balance it all with the quiet comforts of a stay at The English Inn. Perfect!

Old Town BluesFest is Michigan BluesFest 2019!
September 3rd, 2019 by Corey A. Edwards
Old Town BluesFest 2019, now Michigan BluesFest 2019, is just weeks away: Thursday through Saturday, September 19th through the 21st, 2019 at various venues in Lansing, Michigan.
Michigan BluesFest has been a Lansing tradition since 1994. Originally an OctoberFest celebration, the event was moved to September and renamed “Old Town BluesFest” in 2002. Now it’s simply Michigan BluesFest.
Whatever the name, this festival attracts some of the best local, regional, and national artists to Lansing every year – along with thousands of happy fans.
This year’s fest promises more of the same at a variety of stages around Old Town Lansing. Venues for Michigan BluesFest 2019 include stages at both North and South Turner Streets, Turnaround Lounge, and UrbanBeat.
While primarily a music festival, that’s not all you’ll enjoy. Old Town BluesFest also includes music workshops, excellent food and drink, craft vendors, and more! Plus, the festival location in Old Town means you’ll be surrounded by art galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and lovely historic buildings.

Attend the 2016 Lansing JazzFest!
July 15th, 2016 by Corey A. Edwards
The 2016 Lansing JazzFest is almost here with great music, riverboat tours, food, drinks, and more. Best of all? Admission is free! August 5th and 6th, 2016.
Lansing’s popular JazzFest is a fabulous, two-day music festival on 3 stages, performed by top-tier jazz artists from around the area and the country. Lansing JazzFest is unique in that musicians are asked to play at least one original composition. This means you’ll be the first to hear what may be the standards of the future! It is this freshness that makes Lansing JazzFest so very exciting.
Beyond the music, Lansing JazzFest also includes River Boat Tours from Lansing Metro Marinas. These half-hour tours of the Grand River will be available on Friday, 5pm to 8 pm, $3 per person. You can also get to the JazzFest via water, if you wish. Lansing Metro Marinas will be offering River Boat Taxi services on Saturday, from 1pm to 10 pm from the Lansing City Market to Burchard Park for only $1. What fun!

Lansing’s 2011 Festival of the Sun
June 21st, 2011 by insideout
Lansing’s 12th Annual Festival of the Sun takes place Saturday, June 25, 2011, between 2 and 11 p.m. Guests of our Lansing Michigan Bed and Breakfast always rave about this festival, and we are frequently booked months in advance. It is, simply put, a feast for the soul. Why? Because nothing celebrates the solstice like good food, good wine, and good music.
Festival goers need bring only their appetite – everything else is provided.
Featured wines this year come from Michigan, California, Argentina and beyond. They’ll be paired with food ranging from delicate stuffed grape leaves to “trailer park’d” burgers and bratwursts. New this year at the Festival of the Sun is the Pairing Tent, where festival-goers may enjoy an authentic wine tasting experience: three wines will be served with a sample sized three-course meal. Attend and you’ll have the menu for your next dinner party.
It wouldn’t be a festival without live music. Look forward to music by the Elevator Conspiracy, the Tree Hut Kings, Summer of Sol, and more. Wisaal, Tania Hayward, and Sunny Side Up will play the acoustic stage, along with several others. Music should accompany all of your tastings, be they food, drink, or both.
Sound fun? It always is. If you can’t make it this year, be sure to put it on your calendar next year. When you do, be sure to book a room at our Lansing Bed and Breakfast.
