The English Inn’s Medovue Estate has quite a history, and it all begins with Irving Jacob Reuter.

Reuter was General Manager and President of the Oldsmobile Corporation in 1925 when he purchased the property outside Lansing, MI as a home for he and his wife, Janet.

The resulting 10,000 square foot, two-story, cross-gabled, Tudor Revival “countryhouse,” was completed in 1927. The estate, named “Medovue” by the Reuters, included 15 manicured acres, with gardens, nature trails, an artesian well, swimming pool, and fishpond. All overlooking the Grand River in Eaton Rapids, MI.

The Reuters lived and entertained here until 1936, after which Irving retired and they sold the estate. Thereafter the property went through a variety of different hands. Finally, in 1989, it became what it remains to this day – the award winning English Inn Restaurant & Pub!

Join us for a special celebration as we mark the 96th anniversary of The English Inn’s Medovue Estate. Attendees will enjoy a night of live music, dancing, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and Prohibition-style drinks from our cash bar in Medovue Hall.

You’ll also learn about The English Inn’s rich history from the owner, Erik Nelson, with specially prepared exhibits on the Inn and the Reuter family. You’ll see firsthand why The English Inn has remained a popular and beloved destination for nearly a century.
