Fall is hunting season in Michigan. Avid hunters use reserved vacation time, take leave of absences from work, and bid their families “farewell.” They hunt for black bear in October, deer the last two weeks of November, and pheasant in December. It’s an exciting time of year for hunters and all who enjoy wild game.
However, not all hunters are married to hunters. While many women enjoy the sport, the majority of hunters are men. When hunting season opens, many women kiss their hunters goodbye and look forward to spending time with them in a few weeks or months. Some 1.1 million hunting licenses were sold in Michigan this year; by our calculations, that means there are a lot of women wandering about without their men.
Ladies, if this sounds familiar, consider planning a few special activities for yourselves this hunting season.
Plan a Girlfriends Getaway at our Lansing Area Bed and Breakfast. Enjoy a leisurely dinner in our fine dining restaurant, or a more casual meal in our pub. You’ll quite likely be spending a lot of time cooking once the hunters return, so why not let someone else cook for you now.
Plan a holiday shopping extravaganza in nearby Lansing, or a Spa Day. Go to the movies or take in a concert. Spend an afternoon sampling wine at nearby Burgdorf’s Winery and Country Mill Winery, or ask about Michigan wines here at our Lansing pub and restaurant. Go to the Ladies’ Weekend Expo at the Lansing Center, November 18-20, and enjoy a fashion show, craft making, and vendors featuring cosmetics, jewelry, and clothing.
Ladies, don’t sit home alone while your men are stalking game in the woods. Have some fun of your own. Grab a girlfriend, and head to our Lansing area inn and restaurant.
