Lansing’s 2011 Jazz Festival

August 1st, 2011 by insideout

The Lansing JazzFest is seventeen this year, and offering more free music and fun events than ever before. This is a wonderful activity for guests of our Lansing Bed and Breakfast.

Check out the 2011 JazzFest in Old Town Lansing this weekend, August 5 and 6.

Look forward to non-stop music during festival hours thanks to the several venues throughout Old Town. Even more exciting, each artist will play an original composition at Lansing’s JazzFest. Be the first to hear some truly wonderful pieces.

JazzFest 2011 musicians include the incomparable Nicole Mitchell’s Ice Crystal Quartet, Los Gatos, and Elden Kelly & the Global Roots Jazz Collective. In addition, there will be a variety of special events such as the Cory Allen Guitar Clinic, the Jeff Shoup Drum Clinic, and the Happendance’s Community Dance Project.

JazzFest runs Friday, August 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and Saturday August 6 from 1 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in Old Town Lansing. Since it’s an outdoor festival, you may listen to great jazz while admiring the lovely architecture and shops of Old Town. A variety of vendors will sell food, crafts, art, clothing, and more during festival hours.  Eat at JazzFest, or bring your appetite back to our Lansing Fine Dining Restaurant or pub.

Additional festival information is available at JazzFest.

MSU Commencement, 2011

April 13th, 2011 by insideout

Michigan State University Commencement ceremonies begin Friday, May 6, 2011 and continue through Sunday afternoon, May 8. We still have some availability at our Lansing Bed and Breakfast during Commencement weekend at MSU.

Commencement is an exciting time for the whole family. Students, parents, siblings, and grandparents often come together to celebrate this great accomplishment. It is a time to bid farewell to homework (unless graduate school is on the horizon) and to welcome the challenges of entering the workforce full time.

No graduation is complete without a feast. Friends and family congregate around the table to reflect on the past and look ahead to the future. It is a time to laugh over childhood antics and acknowledge the drive and commitment it took to arrive at this moment. Our fine dining Lansing MI restaurant has prepared many graduation feasts over the years – it’s one of our favorite occasions.

Please visit English Inn Reservations to book a room, and visit MSU Commencement for the 2011 schedule, directions, etc.
