Burgdorf’s Winery has been creating unique, award-winning wines for over 30 years, right here in mid-Michigan.
Deb and Dave Burgdorf’s winery is a part-time hobby turned full-time business. With Deb’s M.S. in microbiology and over 15 years of experience in fermentation, plus Dave’s B.S. in agriculture and 30 years of experience with plants and conservation planning, their combined expertise and talents make it no mystery why they have been as successful as they have been.
Starting with an excess of wild, black raspberries, the Burgdorf’s created their first wine. With that first success under their belts, they continued to refine and improve, as well as create and innovate their way to becoming successful vintners.
That first wine, Perfection, evolved over the years into a multi-award winner, including a double-gold at the 2009 Indy International Wine Competition. It’s not the only one, either. Experimenting with many different fruit and grape wines over the years has led to numerous awards.
Burgdorf’s Winery offers wine tastings at the winery’s tasting room on their 5 acre estate. Offering reds, whites, and of course, fruit wines, the tasting room is open year-round, Friday through Sunday. Along with tasting room, Burgdorf’s Winery also has an on-site gift shop featuring a wide variety of local, Michigan-made gifts and edibles.
Private, two-hour tasting parties can be reserved as well. Bring your friends, family, or coworkers and celebrate with a tasting of 10 different wines, cheese and cracker appetizers, and a Bergdorf wineglass keepsake. During the tasting, your group will also learn how the wines are made and the dos and don’ts of wine tasting from the winemakers, themselves. Certain restrictions apply, so be sure to call ahead.
