The 2011/2012 schedule for the Lansing Symphony Orchestra was released on May 1, and subscriptions are now on sale. Treat yourself to a season subscription to the Lansing Symphony, and plan to stay at our Lansing Bed and Breakfast when you’re in town for the concerts.
The Lansing Symphony season is comprised of two series – MasterWorks and Chamber Music – as well as a variety of select performances. In the upcoming season, we look forward to The Music of Billy Joel, Big Band Swing, Sunny Wilkinson and her Jazz Trio, and the traditional Holiday Pops Performance.
The MasterWorks Series begins with A Bold Beginning on September 16, 2011, when Giora Schmidt will once again bring his “lush and shapely sound” (The New York Times) to Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. It concludes with Fantasies and Fairy Tales on May 10, 2012 – a program of Ravel, Rachmaninoff, and Stravinsky.
The Chamber Series begins with Doublereedorama! on September 25, 2011, when one may indulge in the melodic sounds of the Oboe, English Horn, and Bassoon. The series concludes with The Music of J.S. Bach and Sons on April 22, 2012, which includes the superb Trio Angelique, comprised of two flautists and an organist.
In our humble opinion, the best way to begin each evening at the Lansing Symphony is with a gourmet meal at our fine dining Lansing MI restaurant. The best way to conclude the evening is with a drink at our English Pub.
