The 6th Annual Wine and Stein at Potter Park Zoo

April 17th, 2014 by Corey A. Edwards

Potter Park Zoo's 6th Annual Wine and SteinPotter Park Zoo in Lansing is always hosting events you don’t necessarily associate with zoos and next month is no exception as they present the 6th annual Wine and Stein.

Wine and Stein is very much what it sounds like: an opportunity to sample wine and beer in a complimentary, souvenir glass , along with hors d’oeuvres, accompanied by live music, and all in a unique environment – the Potter Park Zoo.

A lot of the events held at Potter Park Zoo have an educational ulterior motive but not Wine and Stein. Potter Park Zoo uses it as happy welcome to the upcoming summer season and a thank you to the community. Last Year’s Wine and Stein brought in around 700 guests and this year’s event is anticipated to bring in at least that number.

Below is a complete list of the vendors attending this year’s Wine and Stein:

Dan Henry Distributing
Boston Beer Company
Atwater Brewery
EagleMonk Brewery
Lawton Ridge Winery
Henry A. Fox
West Side Beer Distributing
Fenn Valley Vineyards and Wine Cellar
Burgdorf Winery
Bad Brewing Company
Max & Erma’s
Pizza House
Tavern on the Square
Peppino’s Pizzeria & Sports Grille

Wine and Stein attendees must be 21 years of age or over and, though the zoo will close at noon the day of the event for set-up, the animals will still be on hand during the festivities. Potter Park Zoo is spread over 20 acres and houses more than 500 animals in its facilities, representing over 160 different species. They are an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and participant in its Species Survival Plan programs.
