Free Concerts in Lansing Parks

When the weather perks up, one of the benefits of being in a capital city like Lansing are the many free and low-cost events taking place.

Starting June 5th and taking place on selected days throughout the summer, come to Lansing for Free Concerts in the Park. This the 20th year these musical events have taken place and they are a bastion of summer in Michigan!

So pack a blanket, lawn chair, a picnic and some cold drinks for a great evening of music. All of the shows are on a Wednesday and start at 7 p.m. (except the Independence Day show) Here is the summer schedule:

June 5th at Riverfront Park: Lansing Orchestra Symphony.

June 12 at Frances Park: Big Willy (blues)

June 19 at Reutter Park: Stan Budzynski & the Third Degree (motown)

June 26th at Quentin Park: Jill Jack (folk)

Thursday July 4th, 8 p.m. at Riverfront Park: Lansing Concert Band

July 17 at Turner Dodge Park: Seacruisers (oldies)

July 24th at Hunter Park: Root Doctor (blues)

July 31 at Frances Park: Orguesta Ritmo (salsa)

August 7th at Ranney Park: Shout! (Beatles Tribute)

Imagine spending your day in cruising around Lansing, checking out the Michigan State University Museum or the galleries downtown. Pick up some takeout from a nearby eatery and grab your lawn chairs from the car trunk. Head over to the park an settle in for some nice music in the warm summer twilight.
