Ski Lansing!So you say you want to strap on some skis or showshoes and get out into that winter wonderland. Great – but where does one go to ski Lansing, MI? Allow us to tell you!

Michigan is home to 3,000 miles of cross country skiing trails and has beautiful terrain for snowshoeing. Michigan ranks second in the nation for number of skiing areas found across the state. While it’s true most of the bigger, Michigan ski resorts are a ways off, there are numerous, easily accessible areas to snowshoe or ski Lansing and the Lansing area:

Mount Brighton
Mt. Brighton offers 26 trails spread over 130 acres of skiable terrain and features modern chairlifts using EpicMix Technology, enhanced learning terrain, and innovative terrain parks. Downhill, cross-country, snowboarding, and snowshoeing.

Fitzgerald Park and The Ledges
Fitzgerald Park is a 78-acre, day use park and home of the Ledges: a series of natural, rock outcroppings that line the banks of the Grand River. Always a home to outdoor activities like basketball, disc golf, and kayaking, in the winter Fitzgerald Park offers two miles of cross country ski trails, a great sledding hill, and snowshoeing.

Woldumar Nature Center
Woldumar Nature Center, in Lansing, is situated along the Grand River with 1.25 miles of shoreline, with more than 5 miles of trails on 178 acres of woodland, prairie, river-side and pine forest! Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing is permitted anytime between dawn and dusk. Woldumar represents one of the most diverse ecosystems in the region – so keep your eyes peeled for wildlife!

Fox Memorial Park
Fox Memorial Park is a l00 acre park that is open for skiing and snowshoeing during the winter season and includes a small, kidney shaped lake that happens to be both available and excellent for ice skating!

William M. Burchfield Park
William M. Burchfield Park has over 500 acres of scenic woods, trails and beach criss-crossed throughout by the Grand River. Burshfield Park offers plenty of cross country skiing trails and equipment rentals, a pond for ice-skating, hills for tobogganing, a winter snack bar, and a winter warming lodge.
