Fox Observatory is located inside Fox Park in the far northwest corner. This is an open air observatory so please dress for the weather and wear sensible footwear for the 200 yard walk from the parking lot.
March 2 and 23 are Saturday public viewing nights at Fox from 8 until 11 p.m.; the cost is $2 per person or $5 per family. Local area astronomer, Jason Blaschka, will be on hand during public observation nights to answer questions about the night sky.
Observation nights will not be held on nights with more than 30% cloud cover. You may call the Observatory at 517-645-6666 to check on sky conditions.

This is a great way to shake up date night and try something new with your partner. Enjoy a delicious meal at the English Inn Restaurant before heading to Lansing for the viewing. Then, return to our bed and breakfast for a great night’s sleep after your flirtation with the heavens.
Other Upcoming Events at Fox Observatory
Messier Marathon: On Saturday, March 9 at 6 p.m. observe all 110 objects in astronomy’s most famous catalog in one night! Object order and log sheets are provided and experienced astronomers will be there to help you along. Note: Binoculars or a telescope are required. Participants are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to share as only coffee is provided. Program starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, and continues throughout the night. Cost is $5 per person.
Astrophotography Nights: Bring your camera and work with experienced photographers to capture photos of our beautiful night sky on Saturday, March 16 from 8 p.m. to midnight.
