The English Inn Restaurant & Pub was happily surprised to find itself in the news a lot recently. Last week we gave away 100 four course meals as a way to thank the community and were very gratified by the response.
We’ve all been dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic for a year or more now and it has provided challenging times for everyone. Here at the English Inn Restaurant & Pub, as with most everywhere, business ground to a near halt.
Despite this, and in the face of hardships of their own, the surrounding community rallied to our aid. Not only did they order take out meals from the English Inn Restaurant but also provided cash tips for our staff. Some even gave Christmas presents to our staff’s children!
As a member of the community, we also appreciated the hard work and sacrifice we saw around us on a daily basis. First responders and front line workers like paramedics, food service workers, caregivers, postal workers, and others who have done selfless acts.
Consequently, we really wanted to give back.
100 Free Four Course Meals from the English Inn
We decided the best way to say “thank you” was through our kitchen.
We donated 100 four course meals to people who have worked through the pandemic. Upscale, four course meals including shrimp cocktail, prime rib, baked potatoes, New York-style cheesecake, and more.
Instead of choosing the recipients ourselves, we asked the community to nominate any deserving people they knew. The nominations came in quickly and we soon had our list.
The English Inn Restaurant & Pub teamed up with Performance Foodservice, Peak Produce, Eli’s, and Baywinds Seafood to produce the dinners. On Wednesday, February 17th, the recipients were notified that they could come collect their free meals.
Meanwhile, and much to our happy surprise, the media had picked up the story. While we gave away the meals as a thank you, not a publicity stunt, we are honored by the attention.
