Summer is rapidly approaching and, as it does, things are both literally and figuratively heating up! Planning on being in the area this spring? You’ll be happy to hear there are plenty of Lansing Michigan events planned near our Eaton Rapids inn!
Last time out, we talked about all the great antique-shopping opportunities near The English Inn. As I’m sure you already know, that’s not all there is to in our area!
While it’s true that Eaton Rapids is smaller and more remote than Lansing, that’s the appeal! Our home, on the historic Medovue Estate, is a calm oasis of manicured gardens and old world splendor along the Grand River. A soothing contrast to Lansing’s endless hustle and bustle.
Old Town Oktoberfest is two days of authentic German food, drink, and live entertainment in Lansing’s Old Town district. September 29th and 30th, 2017!
Halt deine Lederhosen fest – Lansing’s Old Town Oktoberfest is just around the corner!
This annual celebration of everything German (and Old Town’s German heritage) is Mid-Michigan’s only Oktoberfest event. Consequently, the event attracts visitors from all around the Midwest. And why not? Who can resist the siren song of delicious German fare and music?
Your ticket to this superb, end of summer celebration includes a 12 ounce, souvenir beer mug, and food/drink tickets. Cash, check and credit cards are accepted at the festival, so you don’t have to worry about hunting down an ATM mid festival. Old Town Oktoberfest is a 21 and over only event, so you know it will be a good time.
Food will be provided by a variety of local vendors including Bauer’s Scullery, Good Truckin’, Grand Grillin’, and the MI Donut Company. World-renowned German-style beers, regional craft beers, and ciders will also be available to fill your 12oz souvenir mug and wash down all that great food.
One of the many Lansing area signs of spring is almost upon us! The annual Capital City Film Festival is just weeks away, scheduled for April 5th through the 9th, 2017.
The Capital City Film Festival is a multimedia event celebrating independent films and live bands. The festival also includes workshops, a film and game contest, award ceremonies, and more.
The five days of events and showings at the Capital City Film Festival are held at various venues around Lansing. The festival is notable for giving a number of films their Michigan or world debut each year. While the full schedule has yet to be announced, past years have seen more than 70 films and 24 bands.
The holidays wouldn’t be quite the same without music. Luckily, there are a great variety of Lansing Christmas concerts one can attend throughout the season.
We’ve compiled a short list of some of the bigger Lansing Christmas concerts in order to help you plan your visit accordingly.
The 2016 Lansing JazzFest is almost here with great music, riverboat tours, food, drinks, and more. Best of all? Admission is free! August 5th and 6th, 2016.
Lansing’s popular JazzFest is a fabulous, two-day music festival on 3 stages, performed by top-tier jazz artists from around the area and the country. Lansing JazzFest is unique in that musicians are asked to play at least one original composition. This means you’ll be the first to hear what may be the standards of the future! It is this freshness that makes Lansing JazzFest so very exciting.
Beyond the music, Lansing JazzFest also includes River Boat Tours from Lansing Metro Marinas. These half-hour tours of the Grand River will be available on Friday, 5pm to 8 pm, $3 per person. You can also get to the JazzFest via water, if you wish. Lansing Metro Marinas will be offering River Boat Taxi services on Saturday, from 1pm to 10 pm from the Lansing City Market to Burchard Park for only $1. What fun!

If you enjoy BBQ, beer, and classic rock (right?) you’ll not want to miss the inaugural BBQ & Brews Festival at Lansing’s Cooley Law School Stadium on Saturday, August 29, 2015!
BBQ aficionados are always claiming they make, or know someone who makes, the best bbq in the area – if not the world. Well, Lansing’s classic rock radio station, 94.9 WMMQ, decided it was time to find out who REALLY had the best BBQ in Lansing. While they were at it, they decided to make a party of it and invite everyone to come watch – and better yet, taste!
