Snow!

February 2nd, 2011 by insideout

Enjoy the snow while it's here.

Snow, snow, snow!

It’s easy to grumble about the snow. If it comes down hard, fast, and heavy enough, it can impact our work and play schedules for days. Simple things like restocking the cupboards become challenging. Travel becomes an odyssey, and once you get to where you were going, you may find it closed.

Case in point, our Eaton Rapids, Michigan, Restaurant is closed today due to heavy snows.

Nonetheless, snow is also cause for celebration, for snow days are not without their merits. Parents home from work with their children home from school suddenly have time for snow ball fights and building snow forts. Such hard work must be followed by a steaming mug of hot chocolate and a cuddle with a book, preferably by a hot fire. What was going to be an ordinary day is suddenly transformed into something magical, the memories of which will warm hearts for years.

New Year’s Eve at our Lansing Restaurant

December 21st, 2010 by insideout

We invite one and all to celebrate New Year’s Eve at our Lansing DiRoNA restaurant. It is sure to be a festive event with matchless cuisine, fun hats, and party favors.

Toast the New Year at our Lansing Restaurant.

Our chefs are putting together a fantastic four course dinner: choose from Roasted Half Duckling, Chicken Oscar, Lobster tail, New Zealand Rack of Lamb,  English Inn Prime Rib, Fennel Encrusted Salmon, Lobster Stuffed Walleye, and Classic Filet Mignon. The Prix Fixe dinner includes an appetizer, salad, entree and dessert for just $59 (per person).

Patrick will be on the piano all evening, from 4p.m. until 10 p.m. (well, we’ll let him take a few breaks). Enjoy his skilled playing as you comfortably make your way through our tasty four-course meal. You may even be compelled to sing along to an old favorite.

Lansing Inn Spreads Holiday Cheer

December 15th, 2010 by insideout

We just can’t help ourselves.

Our Lansing Bed and Breakfast is all decked out for the holidays with evergreen boughs, wreaths, red ribbons and lights. The scent of pine infuses every corner of the inn, bringing with it thoughts of Christmas. Just the right amount of holiday music sets a festive tone.

Our Lansing area inn and restaurant exudes holiday cheer.

Our Lansing area restaurant has been busy with holiday luncheons and dinners. With five distinct rooms, we can comfortably accommodate several parties at once. We host small, intimate affairs in the Oxford Room (seats sixteen) and the Thames Room (seats twenty-four). Larger events are best suited to the Midford Room (seats thirty-two), the Devonshire Room (seats fifty), and Medovue Hall, which comfortably houses fifty to two hundred guests.

Lansing Area Holiday Parties

December 8th, 2010 by insideout

Our Michigan inn, restaurant, and pub is the ideal place to host your Lansing area holiday parties. We are a large facility with a variety of venues that comfortably accommodate anywhere from sixteen to two hundred guests. Holiday parties may have heavy appetizers and a full bar, or a full sit-down luncheon or dinner; you decide.

The Thames Room (seats 24)  features three walls of leaded windows, a fireplace, and views of gardens and the Grand River. The Devonshire Room (seats 50) features rich Honduran mahogany paneled walls, an elegant fireplace, and a baby grand piano. The Oxford Room (seats 16) features a large stone fireplace and expansive views. The Midford Room (seats 32) is the estate’s original dining room and looks directly out to the gardens. Finally, Medovue Hall (50 – 200 guests) is a grand setting with huge arched windows and views over the whole estate.

Our expansive grounds feature formal English gardens and views of the Grand River. There are walking trails throughout the fifteen acres – the perfect place to stroll after a meal. While not much is in bloom at this time of year, the gardens are a delightful place to take in a bit of fresh air or reconnect with an old friend.

Host your company holiday party here and your colleagues and employees will feel appreciated. Host a family party here and everyone will have a good time; there will be no frenzied running in an out of the kitchen while trying to enjoy the company of siblings, children, parents, and long lost cousins. Instead, reconnect over a glass of wine from our award winning wine cellar, or a pint at the pub. Everyone is the guest of honor at our Lansing area DiRoNA restaurant.

Christmas Eve at the Inn

November 28th, 2010 by insideout

Our Lansing Michigan restaurant will be open on Christmas Eve from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Gather together your close friends and family for a feast that you don’t have to prepare. Save your energy for Christmas day, and sit back and relax on Christmas Eve.

We invite you to spend Christmas Eve at the inn.

Our Lansing DiRoNA restaurant will be closed on Christmas Day, but we’ll be open on the 26th. Bring your guests for lunch, dinner, or a drink in our traditional British pub.

Thanksgiving in our Historic Inn

November 17th, 2010 by insideout

Instead of slaving in the kitchen this year, come to Thanksgiving at our historic Eaton Rapids Inn. Let us do the cooking for you while you enjoy yourself and your companions. We have two options for dining on Thanksgiving day. Guests may dine restaurant style in the main house, or family style at tables of ten in the Medovue Hall ballroom.

The Devonshire room is one of 4 dining areas in the Inn.

In the main house, menu offerings include traditional Thanksgiving fare as well as our customary dishes. This is a great option for groups of friends or families looking for a diverse menu – vegetarians may dine alongside carnivores, each happy with their plates. Meals are served from 12:30 to 7:30 p.m.

In the ballroom, you’ll dine as if you were at home (with cooks and waiters, of course). The head of the table will carve the roast turkey, while plates heaped with potatoes and stuffing will pass from diner to diner. This is a great option for people who love everything about Thanksgiving except the work it takes to host. Limited seating starts at noon.

Make the Thanksgiving holiday complete and stay with at our Lansing Michigan inn, or come for the meal alone. We welcome one and all.

For reservations, please call 1-800-858-0598 or email englishinn@comcast.net.
