Attend East Lansing Film Festival 2023

East Lansing Film Festival 2023Grab some your popcorn and hit your seats, East Lansing Film Festival 2023, Michigan’s largest and longest-running non-experimental film festival, is just weeks away! November 9-15, 2023.

The East Lansing Film Festival (ELFF) celebrates its 26th year in 2023 by continuing to showcase independent films from around the world. The popular event showcases films from around the world. Formats include short films, feature films, and documentaries.

Festival films are chosen for their unique viewpoints, cultures, and backgrounds, with the idea that a film can be as enlightening as it is entertaining. Many of the films even make their premiere at the festival! All are eligible for ELFF Audience Awards. Cash prizes are awarded for Best Feature, Best Documentary, and Best Short Film.

Even more exciting, directors of films at the festival often attend,  joining in Q&A sessions and other festival events. Past years have seen such Hollywood luminaries as Michael Moore, Oliver Stone and Bruce Campbell.

Beyond films, ELFF also includes a host of special events, parties, and seminars. While most of this year’s details are still under wraps, excitement is building. Where will you be?

Screenings are at Studio C in the Meridian Mall, located at 1999 Central Park Drive in Okemos, MI. Domaine Faiveley Wine Dinner – September 28, 2023

This wine dinner features wines from Domaine Faiveley, a vineyard located in Burgundy, France. September 28th, 2023 at The English Inn.

The English Inn Restaurant & Pub is an award winning, fine-dining restaurant in the Lansing area with an acclaimed wine list. It’s only natural that we should host wine-paired dinners featuring special guests like wine expert Ben Eberlein.

Domaine Faiveley is one of the largest vineyards in Burgundy, founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges by Joseph Faiveley. Today, the winery is run by seventh-generation winemakers Eve and Erwan Faiveley. Domaine Faiveley is best known for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines.

Ben Eberlein is a passionate wine and beverage professional with an extensive history as a wine specialist.

Don’t Miss Sun Dried Music Festival 2023

Sun Dried Music Festival 2023Looking for a fun, free event to attend this August? Sun Dried Music Festival 2023 offers two days of free, live music and an array of vendors in a festival atmosphere in historic, downtown Mason, MI. August 25th and 26th, 2023.

Who doesn’t love a summer concert? Live music is always entertaining but there’s something special about enjoying a band outside, with a crowd, in the bright summer sun. For many of us, it just isn’t summer without a show or two. If that describes your take on the subject, you’ll love the annual Sun Dried Festival.

2023 marks the 14th annual return of Mason’s popular Sun Dried Music Festival. The event always attracts a big crowd and this year’s event expects to draw over 10,000 music fans. Bands appear on one of two stages throughout much of the festival. This arrangement provides audiences with non-stop live music through most of the weekend.

Bands at the festival represent some of the best and most popular music artists in the region. Local, and occasionally locally based national acts, that are renowned for their musicianship, song craft, and ability to get a crowd up on its feet.

Come On Out for Charlotte Bluegrass Festival 2023

Charlotte Bluegrass Festival 2023Bluegrass and mountain music fans will not want to miss the upcoming 2023 Charlotte Bluegrass Festival, Michigan’s largest bluegrass festival, celebrating it’s 51st year! June 22-24, at the Eaton County Fairgrounds in Charlotte, MI.

There’s nothing quite like a good bluegrass jam and the annual Charlotte Bluegrass Festival is all that and much more. This year’s event celebrates 51 years of bluegrass tradition with 3 full days of music by some of the biggest names in bluegrass.  The 2023 lineup includes Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, The Lonesome River Band, the Edgar Loudermilk Band, the Amanda Cook Band, The Kody Norris Show, The David Mayfield Parade, the Williamson Branch, Harbourtown Bluegrass, New Outlook, Full Cord, The Next Paige, and Crabgrass. Wow!

Attendees can also look forward to musician workshops and some of the best impromptu parking lot jams around. Are you a musician? Be sure to bring your instrument along!

You may also want to bring along a lawn chair or picnic blanket, though stadium seating will also be available. Concessions will be available for purchase at the event but you can also bring along your own cooler of goodies.

Camping for the festival is available at the fairgrounds but those preferring a higher grade of accommodations will be happy to learn that The English Inn is only 20 minutes away! That’s right: you can enjoy hours of great bluegrass music at the fairgrounds knowing that, once it’s over, all the comforts of The English Inn Restaurant & Pub await. A great combo for an utterly unforgettable weekend.

The English Inn Restaurant & Pub is well known as an award winning Lansing area fine-dining restaurant offering gourmet meals and an acclaimed wine list. Now we’re upping the ante with an upcoming wine-paired dinner featuring famous vintner, Anne-Charlotte Mélia Bachas.

For those not in the know, Chateau de la Font du Loup (“Castle of the Fountain of the Wolf”) is an exceptional winery located in the heart of France’s Rhone Valley. The Rhone Valley is an extraordinary terroir, famous for its complex yet delightfully drinkable, high-quality wines. Anne-Charlotte Mélia Bachas’ family has owned the estate since 1942 and she, along with her husband Laurent, currently operate the winery.

Lansing Lugnuts 2023 Season Schedule

Lansing Lugnuts 2023 Season ScheduleSpring has sprung! The weather is warming, flowers are blooming, birdsong is in the air and … wait. What’s that? Did you just hear the crack of a ball against a bat? That’s right! Spring also means baseball season and a chance to enjoy Lansing Lugnuts home games at Jackson Field, less than a half hour’s drive from The English Inn Restaurant & Pub!

April is just around the corner and excitement is building for the Lugnuts 28th season. Whether you’re a rabid Lugnuts fan or just want to catch a game, 2023 promises lots of MiLB fun and excitement.

The Lansing Lugnuts are a Minor League Baseball team of the High-A Central and the Oakland Athletics’ Class A Midwest League affiliate. The team has won two Midwest League championships and hosted four Midwest League All-Star Games. 156 Lugnuts have gone on to the major leagues over the years, with more than 20 former Lugnuts currently active in the Majors. Consequently, Lugnuts games are very popular, drawing some 300,000 fans a season. In fact, the club holds the MiLB attendance record for an inaugural season!

Lugnuts home games, played at Lansing’s Jackson Field, are a great time and feature lots of fun promotions. Things like Tacos & Tallboys nights, fireworks, giveaways, entertainers, pet nights, and more!

Ingham County Fair 2022Summer is nearly here and with it two of the state’s finest county fairs! Both Eaton County Fair and Ingham County Fair 2022 are just weeks away … and less than 20 minutes from The English Inn Restaurant & Pub!

Who doesn’t like a county fair? Cotton candy and carnival rides, tractor pulls, livestock, horse racing, fireworks, loads of live entertainment, and more! Whether you live in the area or are just stopping by for a visit, it’s hard to beat such good, clean fun like a county fair.

Michigan, like most states, is home to numerous county fairs and two of the state’s biggest and best are held within easy driving distance of our Lansing-area inn. In fact, Ingham County Fair is almost 170 years old!

While the historic English Inn may seem worlds away from a county fair, we’re actually just minutes from both. Consequently, you can spend as much time as you like at the fair, knowing that the comforts of your room at English Inn are just a short drive away.

East Lansing Art Festival 2022Get set for East Lansing Art Festival 2022! This outdoor, two-day celebration of art and culture features over 180 juried artists, live music, an international food court, and more! May 21st through the 22nd, 2022 in downtown, East Lansing, MI.

If you enjoy art, you do not want to miss East Lansing Art Festival 2022. The annual, juried fine art festival has been a mid-Michigan tradition since 1964, attracting hundreds of artists and thousands of art fans to East Lansing’s downtown every year.

2022 marks a hopeful return to a full festival after two years of pandemic-related restrictions and limitations. This means getting back to 180 or more artists in attendance and a return to an interactive artist area. Who wouldn’t enjoy meeting and speaking with talented artists about their work? Fascinating!

East Lansing Art Festival 2022 also sees a return to a full stage lineup, with 12 live performances on the schedule. Attendees can also enjoy free activities and artist demonstrations.

Another popular festival feature is the international-style food court. Here you’ll find local vendors offering an array of delicious global flavors. Yum! Even better, the MSU Spring Arts and Crafts show is held simultaneously and just across the street from the festival.

The Undying Murders Murder Mystery Dinner Show at The English InnHomicide and intrigue are on the menu when The Live Action Fun Factory presents an interactive murder mystery dinner show at The English Inn. Come enjoy an evening of fine dining as you help solve the crime of “The Undying Murders” – Sunday, October 24th, 2021.

Dining at The English Inn Restaurant & Pub is already a worthy experience. Our award winning restaurant is located in the historic grand manor of Medovue Estate, just a half hour from Lansing, MI in Eaton Rapids, overlooking the Grand River.

Medovue, a classic two-story, Tudor Revival mansion surrounded by 15 acres of beautifully manicured grounds, was built by the Reuter family in 1927. Though the world has changed mightily since then, the estate retains much of its original beauty and charm and is the one of the area’s most popular dinner destinations.

Common Ground Music Festival 2021

Common Ground Music Festival 2021Common Ground Music Festival 2021 is on! After more than a year of delays and postponements, Michigan’s premier, outdoor music event of the summer is back. Saturday, September 11th, 2021 at Jackson Field in Lansing, MI.

Common Ground Music Festival is a beloved annual event, drawing big name entertainers and large crowds to Mid-Michigan for over 20 years. More than 500 different artists have performed at the festival, and from many genres: rock, R&B, country, hip hop, and more.

The guest list typically includes local, regional, and big name, national acts. More than 40 Grammy Award winners and over 25 Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame inductees have graced Common Ground’s stages. The event attracts more than 50,000 people to downtown Lansing every year.

Common Ground 2021

This year’s event differs quite a bit from past years.

After multiple cancellations and postponements due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this year’s festival has been scaled back to one day. Though initially scheduled for early July 2021, as is typical, the date was moved to September 11th, 2021.
