A Lansing Area Cooking School
Le Chat Gourmet Culinary Arts has been offering hands-on cooking and baking classes, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients, since 2003. Classes at the school are designed for all experience levels and cover a wide range of dishes and styles. Students actively participate in the entire cooking process, from food prep to plating, and dine on the results.
Chef Denene Vincent, founder and operator, is a gourmet chef with over 25 years of international cooking experience. Chef Vincent holds master gardener and art degrees and hosted the popular Great Lakes Kitchen television show. She is a true farm to table chef, emphasizing locally grown, seasonal ingredients in her classes and dishes.
Le Chat Gourmet offers a state-of-the-art classroom kitchen, Gourmet Cookware Shop, and a variety of gardens on three acres. In fact, Garden Tours are a popular feature during the school’s warmer months. Chef Vincent often takes the class out to collect fresh herbs, edible flowers, and heirloom fruits and vegetables.
The grounds also include a Wood Fired Oven, outside tables, and a grilling area for studying the art of outdoor cooking. Who doesn’t want to learn to make a wood-fired, gourmet pizza?
The school offers a variety of classes and special events throughout the year, as well as Team Building and Private Classes. Interested in experiencing world cuisine at its source? Sign up for one of the school’s Culinary Vacations to somewhere like Provence, France and Tuscany, Italy.
Class sizes are small and include all supplies needed: ingredients, aprons, knives, and other cooking equipment. You’ll even take home a recipe booklet covering the dishes you learned once the class is over.
